1. How do I know I am choosing the right moving company?

  • Ask for recommendations from previous clients.
  • Ask for DOT number and see I they are listed on the BBB (the Better Business Bureau) and check their company rate.
  • Ask from the moving company to have a home survey. By doing that you will be able to get a binding offer and avoid any additional fees at the day of pick up.

Keep in mind, don’t take for granted bad reviews you find online. Most of them are written by competitors. There are even websites that get paid by competitors to add companies on fake “black lists”.

2. What the time frame the moving company most delivery my household goods?

By Lew, they most deliver no longer then 30 days. Keep in mind, most moving companies delivery much sooner. Ask your moving company to include the time frame in the offer you are given by them.

3. What if something gets lost or damaged?

Every licensed moving company automatically insures every shipment they carry by $0.60 per pound. If you think about it, normally that will not really cover the real value of your goods in most cases. We recommend to always add a third party insurance for your move but before you do that, if you have a home insurance check with them first! they might be covering your shipment automatically as part of your insurance policy.

*Keep in mind, you cant normally get full coverage for anything you packed your self!

4. How do I know my moving company is not using a third party transporter?

Its really hard to know for sure and your moving company can easily lie about it. What I am about to tell you might surprise you –  it’s not a big issue if they do work with a third party. Your shipment will be moving hands a few times before it reaches you (in most cases) and it does not really matter if its done by works from the company or not. From our experience there is really no difference as far at the risk and keep in mind the majority of moving companies use third party carriers when it come to long distance move.

5. I am thinking to do some of the packing myself. Can I use plastic bins instead of carton boxes?

Yes, and we strongly recommend them. They are of course more expensive then boxes but the protect better and you can reuse them for storage later on.​

6. should i do my own inventory list of boxes?

Yes, we strongly recommend to make your own list of boxes. Although, the movers will be making an inventory list and provide you with a copy, they normally will not write on each box what it includes inside. they will normally only write the box number and on the list they will add from what room it’s from. Make your own list of boxes and write on each box what it includes for better placing the items when you arrive to your new home.

7. When the movers arrive at my new home will they unpack and reassemble everything?

When it comes to door-to-door service, the movers will reassemble all the items they took apart and put each box in the designated room. They will not reopen your boxes and put each item in place. ​

8. What kind of items will the movers not handle dissembling-reassembling as part of my door to door service?​

Items that include additional charge for packing:

  • Pool tables.​
  • Piano.
  • Large Bored game.
  • Large safes.​

As for baby cribs, they will take them apart but in most cases will not reassemble them at destination for insurance reasons.

9. I’m not sure my new house will be ready before the movers arrive to it. What can we do in that case?

If you are not sure that you will ready to receive your delivery on time, ask the moving company to store it for you after the pick-up in their company storage. Normally, they don’t charge for the first 30 days of storage but keep in mind that they might have a rate for double handling of loading and unloading your shipment in the storage unit.

* You most give notify the movers at least 7 business days before you are ready to receive your delivery.​

10. What kind of additional charges are not included in door to door service?​

  • Dissembling-reassembling any of the items on answer number 8.
  • Any long-carry above 120 feet between the parking truck and the entrance of the house (applies both at pickup and delivery points).
  • Above 2nd floor with no elevator service (no charge for stairs inside the house).
  • Any holdup at delivery or pickup accord by client.
  • Any Items that requires any special packing service. For example,extra large fish tank or extra large glass dinning table.
